Anyone with irregular or crowded teeth, overlapping or forwardly placed teeth or one with gap in between should go for braces(orthodontic) treatment. Irregular and spaced teeth are difficult to clean and may contribute too many problems like tooth decay, gum diseases, trauma to the soft tissues, bad odour and many more. Braces treatment improves your dental health by proper alignment and gives you perfect smile, which indeed can boost your self-esteem.

Braces treatment can be done at any age. At an early age, treatment helps eliminating bad habits like thumb sucking, mouth breathing etc. it also improves speech by correcting tongue position in mouth. Early diagnosis and treatment can guide erupting teeth and developing jaws into a more favourable position and shortens treatment time. It reduces the likelihood of fracturing protruded front teeth while playing. It may even provide advantages that are not available in the adulthood.

ADULT ORTHODONTICS : Advances in orthodontics have also made orthodontic treatment more comfortable and less noticeable specifically for adults. Braces or clear aligner (Invisalign - clear alternative to braces) for the adults are mostly required to improve smile, making teeth fit better, to create space for new teeth placement and to decrease the risk for future dental development.

Types of Braces
Metal Braces / Traditional Braces

Traditional or older generation of metal braces are braces which require elastic ties to tighten teeth at every visit. Which can be more painful and there will be more food lodgement as compare to self ligating braces. In this method, number of visit to the clinic is also more as compared to newer methods.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are the same size and shape as metal braces, except that they have tooth-colored or clear brackets that blend in to teeth. Some even use tooth-colored wires to be even less noticeable. Less noticeable than metal braces. More expensive than metal braces; Brackets can stain easily if patients don’t care for them well.

Self-Ligating Braces

Savani dental and orthodontic clinic offers high quality orthodontic products made by the trusted global companies like, 3M Unitek™, American orthodontics, Damon system, Invisalign etc.. The advance self-ligating braces make appointments shorter, appointment intervals further apart, and reduce friction so teeth move into their correct position faster. Traditional braces use tiny metal wires or elastic bands, known as ligatures, to secure the archwire to teeth. Elastic ligatures can become stained, stretched, or broken requiring additional visits to the orthodontist for replacement. This can be tedious and uncomfortable, as well as time consuming. The elastic ligatures can also be difficult to clean because they retain food particles. Both metal and elastic ligatures cause friction on the archwire, which makes teeth move slower, thereby increasing treatment time.

There are two types of self-ligating braces metal and ceramin(tooth coloured)(clear}. The clear self-ligating braces are the perfect aesthetic choice if you want your braces to blend in with your smile. Both styles eliminate ligatures all together. Instead, they use nickel-titanium clips to hold the archwire in place and offer comfort, convenience, and cleanliness. This significantly minimizes friction and allows teeth to move faster, which can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete your treatment. Also, these self-ligating braces are less likely to retain food particles making them easier to clean. In addition, these braces use lighter and gentler forces to align your teeth faster and with less discomfort. Lastly, archwire changes are quick and simple because the archwires simply clip-in and out and there is no need to place or remove ligatures. This will reduce the number of appointments and the amount of time spent at each visit.

Lingual Hidden Braces

These are the braces which are fixed to the teeth on the inner side, making them invisible. These are little bit inconvenient to the patient as they are near the moving tongue.
Pros: invisible from outside
Cons: Very difficult to clean; more expensive; can be more uncomfortable at first; regular adjustments take longer and are more difficult than with traditional braces.

TAD System (temporary anchorage device)(orthodontic implants)

In traditional orthodontics, molars (back teeth) are used as anchor points to move front teeth. Unfortunately, this may cause the molars to move as well, which is undesirable. TADs (also called Miniscre'W's) can be placed in the mouth to provide an independent anchor point to move teeth. The TAD System, allows for a fixed anchorage point that can be used to move a single tooth or multiple teeth. TADs are quick and easy to place, most often with topical anesthetic only. They can be used to correct bites instead of rubber bands, headgears or even jaw surgery in some cases. TADs can make treatment faster, better or allow treatment that was previously only possible with surgery. They are truly remarkable and innovative.

Clear aligners (Invisalign)

Invisible Braces / Invisalign / Transparent Braces / clear aligners are a type of world’s most advanced orthodontic treatment. Clear aligners / Invisalign /invisible braces consists of a series of mouth guard-like clear plastic aligners that gently and gradually shift your teeth into corrected position. The aligners are removable and are replaced every 2 weeks. They are the best CLEAR AND INVISIBLE ALTERNATIVE TO BRACES.

To get a fine result, you must wear clear aligners throughout the day and remove them while eating, drinking, brushing, flossing, or for special occasions. The aligners give you the comfort of removing them whenever you want. But it is better to wear them for at least 22hours in a day. Also, since they are transparent, they are almost invisible and hence keeps your smile confident and perfect.

The biggest advantage is that, they are almost invisible , Patients can eat and drink whatever they want.
